Yes there is a lot of variations out there but the one thing that is consistent amoungst great golfers is their impact position. Take a look at few videaos and you will see that although a lot of players i.e. Jim Furyik take the club back differently, they all approach impact pretty much the same, and this is the key.

Learning what is your natural swing is really the key. I used to struggle to swing exactly the way I was told but now I understand that I have to do it my way. I dropped 6 strokes from my game when I have up trying to copy Tiger Woods.

I have to say I agree with Steve and Jason... lol... My husband has the craziest looking swing ever (think chicken wing) and I'm absolutely amazed every time he hits the ball he has a nice straight shot and can fade and cut it as well. It really defies logic!.. Thanks for the tips.

I have to agree with Jason. When I was a high handicap golfer my pro kept telling me not to hit the ball so hard. He explained that you swing the club through the ball rather than try and hit the ball. This is all based on having a sound and repeatable set up. Good info - keep it coming!

Yes some good info. There is a lot of info out there on the 'correct' golf swing but is there really a right and wrong? Everyone swings the club differently. I think if you get the fundamentalists right such as a sound set up, grip etc then you are on your way. Most high handicap golfs try to work on building a perfect swing rather than concentrating on a perfect strike. I have seen some awful swings but they strike the ball well and consistantly, and that is the key!!
